It’s virtually impossible to find a woman who doesn’t want to look ravishing at her wedding. This is a big part of the wedding dream. Let’s focus on skin today. How to enhance it before the big day to stun everyone around? See 7 simple rules to incorporate into your skin-care routine early enough.
There is this scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding when an uninvited guest appears on the bride-to-be’s face and her father tries to remove it using a glass cleaner. It sounds horrifying, doesn’t it? We share 7 skin-care rules to follow before the wedding to avoid this horror on the big day and make you look your best.
How to care for skin before wedding?
1. Always remove make-up carefully and thoroughly.
Most skin problems – acne, irritations – flow from not cleansing the face correctly. Before the wedding, it’s good to make some changes as far as the evening beauty routine goes. Ideally, you should use multi-stage face cleansing which doesn’t only mean removing make-up but also clearing the face of oil excess and detoxifying. Make use of natural vegetable oils which perfectly clear and condition the skin.
2. Hydrate the skin on the outside and from within.
Lovely skin on a wedding day looks smooth and radiant. It’s going to be like that if you hydrate it early enough. You need to remember that hydrating the skin is the basic element so it’s best to do it in two ways: from within (drink min. 1,5l water every day) and on the outside (with hydrating serums or creams).
3. Boost radiance with a brightening face serum.
Serum is a must in your pre-wedding skin-care routine. You should be aware that facial serum has highly-concentrated ingredients and works strongly, better than a cream or mask because each drop of serum holds a max. number of nutrients. Every bride-to-be should reach for a vitamin C face serum which lessens dark spots, evens out the skin tone and naturally adds radiance.
4. Go for DIY face masks.
Instead of getting an arsenal of pricey masks, it’s great to appreciate natural solutions before the big day. A homemade nourishing mask is often better and gentler, not irritating the skin or overburdening it with unnecessary synthetics. You can use anything you like (fruits, vegetables, oils, honey, dairy products) and experiment to find the best combination of ingredients.
5. Exfoliate the skin.
Using an exfoliant on a regular basis is the key thing to do before a wedding. Use either enzyme (milder) or physical (stronger, you can do them at home) scrubs. To keep the face smooth, get an even skin tone and avoid dry patches, it’s ideal to exfoliate the skin at least once a week.
6. Protect the skin against the sun.
Overuse of sunbathing is a popular mistake that brides-to-be make. We hope for a better-looking face but expose it to dark spots, dryness and premature aging – the effects of UV radiation. It’s much better if you decide to secure the skin against the sunlight using SPF cream or organic raspberry oil. This helps avoid irritations and other surprises that could spoil your wedding look.
7. Do massage and face yoga.
Last but not least, a trick worth incorporating into your daily skin-care routine before sleep: regularly massage the face to plump it up and make it younger. Doing it for a few minutes while applying a cream, serum or oil stimulates microcirculation, nourishes skin and boosts elasticity. If you add face yoga, you will correct the face shape, beautify the skin and even get rid of the double chin in just a couple of weeks. Worth it!
